Journal 1!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will describe the color "red" to a blind man by using my own intake on the color. The color red is a fiery color its like heat.. too hot to resist bright and luminous. Heat is the best way to describe red because everyone expriences heat everyday from the age of a baby to the age of an old man. I would also relate red to a angry or furious mood because everyone knows that whenever someone thinks of red they think of an angry mood. Also, I would read literature that would describe red with the use of imagery or metaphors that other authors have used. It also depends on if the blind man was born blind or not, if he wasnt then I would deacribe holidays that have the color red in it such as Christmas or Valintines day. Also, I would use vegitables or fruits that are red to describe the color for the blind man.

A new material object to a primitive culture I would share would be the guitar. Im sure this culture is unaware of this beautiful instrument and I would like to share the guitar so they'll begin to make music. The guitar will bring many people together as it has done for me. I play guitar with my family and friends, we have a great time singing togther and playing together. I hope the people of this culture will experience the same exact thing. Nothing is better than playing guitar and making beautiful music, it has been life changing to many people and it has changed my life. When I introduce this instrument to these people they will soon experience they greatness of the guitar.

Journal 3!!!!!!!!

The way I use language to make a point is what i've taken from the class. Before, I wouldnt use academic language when I spoke, but now with the help from the class I began to use higher vocabulary in my everyday life. My vocabulary is'nt pedantic, however, I use enough academic language to make myself sound more like my age. I know I will speak like this for the rest of my life and I am greatful for the experience i've had in this class. Speaking more academically will help me succeed in life, by acquiring jobs to support myself. Also, by studying rhetoric i've learned how to detect many different tecniques that politicians use in there speech to persuade their audiences.

Journal 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would be Johnny Ramone from the Ramones because he is one of the most influential guitarist's who have ever lived. Johnny Ramone wasnt the best guitarist but the way he played the guitar was so amazing. He played with style, a style that presented himself as a "I dont care" guy, the way heplayed fit the punk scene he was in. He made songs such as "Blitzkreig Bop" and "I wanna be Seadated" which are two of the most recognized songs in music. Also, he is one of the pioneers of my favorite music genre which is punk rock. He has inspired so many other bands and guitarist's, he will never be forgotten in music.

Journal 5!!!!!!!!!

If I had the descision to spend $1 million on something in the world I would choose to spend it on the starving children in Africa. I would donate money to any organization that would help these children live. I believe no living creature should live like they way the children from Africa live and everyone should aleast donate something to help these troubled souls. I commemorate the people who are over there in Africa helping the children someday I want to do the same. I would donate my money to CARE an organization that provides emergency relief and supports services in the Horn of Africa. Only if I had $1 million I would make a difference, but, im just a teen and one day I will make a difference.

A quote that would describe me would be,"dont judge a book by its cover", I believe this quote describes me very well because before people talk to me they think im a stuck up guy when im really a funny and weird guy. By the way I dress people think im a trouble maker and a bad guy when in reality im the opposite of those accusations. One time, in 9th grade a teacher yelled at me and called me a "skater gangster" because I used vulgar language. Also, the teacher went on and said that im a bad kid who gets bad grades but little did he know i had A's and B's in all of my accelerated classes. This goes to show how people can judge someone by they way they look and it is something that I live with everyday.

The holiday I would commemorate will be Peace Day on Earth. On this special day people all over the world will spend time with their loved ones and celebrate that they're alive on Earth. Everyone with jobs will take a day off to celebrate with their families. This will take place on March 23, people will eat pizza, chili fries, and for desert doughnuts. These delectable food choices are chosen because no one can resist them. Everyone will spend time together all day until its the 24th of March. This holiday will bring everyone together and make them realize that peace and love is the only way to live. I believe this holiday will better the world and bring all races together as one.

The best advice that I can remember recieving was from my english teacher Ms. Eddy, as she said when its time to work, work hard, when the work is over have fun and relax. Her advice really helped me get my work done in my classes and not to put off any last minute work. Ms. Eddy says our brains need a balance between work and having fun and I believe every word she says. Before I had Ms. Eddy my work habits were not too well and I was waited until the last minute to finish work, but now I work when im suppose to and later I dont have to worry about it. I will carry on this new work habit and use it to help me get through college.

Do you feel like college is ripping you off?


I believe that college is ripping me off because I believe you dnt need to pay money to recieve a decent education. I dont think your college should take this much money from your students to recieve and education,especially when your students have little money. However, since i have no other option I am willing to pay the amount you request and hope that I have nothing else to pay you. After college I will make sure that I have a great job so I have enough money to pay for my child.

Journal 12!!!!!!!

I wake up on a hot sunny mornng getting ready for school while the Ramones music is playing in the background. I start by taking a shower and singing classic songs in the shower, as I get out I check out myself in the mirror flexing what little muscles I have. I get out of the bathroom and put my clothes on and make my bed then I head over to the bathroom again to brush my teeth and spike my hair. After, I walk to school feeling tired and annoyed about school. As I arrive I greet all my friends and go to my first period english class with mybteacher Ms. Eddy. As time passes by school was over and I go hang with my partner in crime David. We walk to my house and we face the biggest problem that we both would never have thought of. Both David and I had wittness a murder take place right in front of our eyes, the murderer spotted us and we began to ran as he chased us in his car. Terrorfied, David and I were running for our lives and this begins our journey to saftey.

Dear college roommate,
     

      My name is Gabriel Barrera and im your new roommate for this year and I hope we can get along and become good friends. Im a nice, friendly, and cool guy who likes to have fun with everyone. Im a very clean guy so you dont have to worry about having a messy room and I am a responsible young man. Also, I play guitar all the time and I plan on taking my guitar so I hope that isnt a problem for you. Im a great person to talk to, so ill listen to any problems you're facing and try to hep you. If you ever need a shoulder to cry on i'm your guy. I cant wait to see you whhen school starts its gonna be so much fun.

My feelings towards the quote: "He does not possess wealth, it possesses him", speaks the truth for many people in the world. The desire to be wealthy and powerful consumes alot of people such as big buisness owners and coporations. The world would be alot better if people were'nt so controlled by money, for example, without money their wouldnt have been any slavery or wars. Slavery in America existed because the slaves produced many valueable goods for consumers,which lead to a great economical soceity in the South. Also, wars are only fought to gain territories and valuables because of the greediness of many leaders from different Nations. I believe that the world will be a better place without people who are controlled by money.

My most valuable contribution to a college campus would be my grades that I recieve in all of my classes. Due to the fact that I am not really a school spirit guy, the best thing I do to for my school is to achieve outstanding school academics. I believe I can achieve this in college because I recieve great grades in my AP classes which are basically college classes. Also, im a responsible man when it comes to school work and i'll study for all ,y eexams in college. This school year so far has showed me that I need to work hard in my classes if im ever gonna make it in college. I beleieve the experiences im facing in highschool will help me in college , also, I believe I can achieve great success on a college campus. When I graduate from college I will be thanking everyone that helped me to be the hard working man I am today.

Journal 16!!!!!!!

The friends I chose to associate myself with is one of the best descisions and experiences i've had in my whole life. I feel this way because over the years I have never faced significant problems that have jepordized my realationship with my friends. The group I hang with at school are guys who have fun, make jokes about eacother, and ave eachothers back. I know when im in trouble my friends will always be there for me and help me with my problems and I would do the same. Im not saying that we're the perfect group of friends becuase we're not, we have some arguements with eachoter but we never hold grudges with eachother. Also, the friends I have dont abuse drugs or alcohol when we hang, so that keeps me out of trouble and lets me have a healthy life. If I didnt have friends like the ones I have now I dont know where or who I would be, so I thank God for blessing me with such great freinds.

An issue that concerns me about this country is all the poor and homeless  people livving on the streets. This issue conserns me alot because I believe that the citizens of the U.S shouldnt leave another fellow citizen on the streets. Someone might say,"thats their fault for being homeless" and I think that everyone deserves a second chance in life. However, I am only a teen and I dont have money to give to these people but in the future I will start helping at the homless shelter by giving them food and clothes. Since my family is religious we believe in helping the poor because thats what our religion tells us to do. I thank God everyday that I have a mom with a steady job and that can support my brothers and I every year and i want the homeless people to feel the same about thier lives.

Journal 18!!!!!!

If I could change two things about the campus I would change the stage and the the painting on the lockers. I would renovate the stage because the stage is old and dirty, also, the tile on the stage is broken and needs repair. The renovation of the stage will make our campus presentable for whoever visits us and looks at our quad. Also, I would change the painting on our lockers because the "new" painting they accomplished this year is horrible. The painting on our lockers look like someone just splashed random red paint on it and didn't take the time to paint it with the intentions on making our school presentable. If I was in charge I would hire actual painters who can do the job well and not just be lazy about it. I believe these new changes will make our school stronger because it shows that we care for the campus and the students who see the campus everyday.

I believe that attendance shouldn't be mandatory because it's  the children's choice if they want an education to better their lives. Education opens the minds of individuals and prepares them for their future in the real world. However, requirements to graduate school hold many students behind due to the fact that some of the requirements do not help the students education. I believe that students should choose what classes they want to take that'll help them in their futures. The school district should cater the needs of the students because their would be no school without the students. Our nation without a high education would look like crap. I think our nation would have unemployed and desperate for survival.

Journal 20!!!!!!

If I had the chance to communicate with an animal I would communicate with my dog Toby. I would speak to my dog because I have always pondered what dogs think about in their daily lives. I believe that dogs are one of the most intelligent animals in the world and I would be able to have a normal conversation with a dog. Also, dogs show a great amount of love to their owners which I cant find in any other animal. Dogs are helpful aswell as fun to be around with so if a dog could talk that would be a huge bonus.
